It's official, I am now a legal adult. Most people celebrate their 21st birthdays doing "adult" things. I however, celebrated it right...by working a 12.5 hour shift at Highland!! It was awesome. The real celebration happened last weekend. Bree and I just so happen to be birthday twins so we headed up to Reno last weekend to celebrate together. We ate dinner at a yummy Mexican restaurant called Hacienda. Then my parents took us shopping where I got a new winter coat to help me survive the frozen tundra of Idaho, also called Rexburg. We ate breakfast at a place called, "My Favorite Muffin". They had all sorts of little muffin treats and it was hard to choose just one, but the lemon cheesecake one eventually found it's way to my tummy. Saturday was another good day of shopping followed by the wedding/reception of one of my good friends, Candice Miller. On my actual birthday my mom made me fajitas for dinner and we had a key-lime ice cream cake for dessert. Talk about deliciousness!!

August 7, 2011
On August 7, 2011 I had the privilege of attending the marriage of my brother, Mark and his fiance, Breeana Sutton. It was a beautiful, simple ceremony and I am so happy for them and glad that Bree is now a part of our family. Aaron and Lynze also had the opportunity to bless little Oliver earlier that same day.
Aunt pHe_$t
Welcome to the world Oliver Samuel Hubbard. This cute little guy joined our family on June 23, 2011. I just love him so much. I endured, I mean enjoyed (let's be honest, the drive isn't that great), another road trip to Vegas for his birth. My brother, Mark, gave me the nickname pHe_$tEr P. I don't really know why, but he did. Aaron has decided that Oliver will get the opportunity to call me Aunt pHe_$t for short...lucky me!
Monterey Bay, California is one place my family and I love to go for vacation. Hub's requested to be able to go there one last time before he left for his 2 year mission to Mexico City. Although the sunshine was sparse and the wind was in abundance, we still managed to have a great time. I definitely enjoyed our guided kayak tour on the ocean, the Monterey Bay Aquarium (my love for the sea otters is a little out of control!), good food, great views, the ocean, and my dad's driving!! Ok, the last one might be a little sarcastic...
Viva Las Vegas!
At the end of May, Hub's and I took a road trip to Las Vegas/Utah to see Aaron and Lynze and one of our good friends, Max, graduate from high school. This was the first time I had ever been to Las Vegas. We walked around the strip, visited Hoover Dam and the crazy bridge next to it, ate at an authentic Argentina restaurant, melted in the heat, and just enjoyed time together before Hub's left for his mission to Mexico City.
Shayla H., RN
After 3 weeks of studying nothing but Kaplan nursing books from 8-5, I found myself as ready as I could've been to take the NCLEX-RN Exam. After 75 questions and not quite an hour later....I became Shayla, RN!!!!!!!!! I put my good nursing education to use this summer as I worked at Highland Manor-Skilled Nursing Facility. Working in the locked dementia/Alzheimer's unit made for some pretty good times. Although not a place I want to become an expert yet, Highland gave me some dang good experience as I was solely in charge of 20-30+ residents at a time. You may ask how safe it is for a brand new nurse to take care of that many people. Don't worry, I've asked myself the same thing all summer.!!Let's just say I got pretty good at saying some form of "I'm not sure, let me go ask." Luckily most of the residents overlooked me being an amateur and loved me anyways!
Diagnosis - College Graduate

After 16 long, torturous months my best friend, Karen Ralph, and I successfully graduated from the Associate's of Science Nursing Program from BYU-Idaho. This was a major accomplishment to say the least. Early mornings, challenging tests (and professors), sleep deprivation, and having no life other than memorizing drugs, signs and symptoms, and treatments made for some really depressing times!! But by some miracle we survived to the end and.....On April 8, 2011 we had our Nursing Pinning Ceremony, followed by graduation on April 9, 2011. My family helped join in the celebration too!
"Summer Break"
As some of you know, I have been attending BYU-Idaho for the last three years. I recently graduated from the Associate's of Science Nursing Program and have decided to start the Bachelor's Nursing program in September. BYU-Idaho has a track system, meaning that I go to school from September until April and have the summer off. My "summer break", or the 5 months that I get off from school, this year has been filled with studying, traveling, geriatrics, babies, weddings, and much more. Please stay tuned to find out the details of these exciting times!
